DAY 1 & 2
EXODUS

The Neo-Tokyo Tour will depart from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for your international flight to Tokyo. An Intermixi staff member will be available in the International Terminal for check-in. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and meet your fellow traveling companions.

During the flight, we cross the international dateline and arrive at Narita International Airport in Chiba prefecture. After completing immigration and custom procedures, passengers will receive a complimentary transfer from the airport to the hotel in Tokyo. During the transfer, enjoy orientation commentary about Japan, talk with fellow travelers, and catch glimpses of Tokyo Disneyland, Odaiba, and the dazzling lights of Tokyo before arriving at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel.

* Additional departure points will be allocated and offered at Chicago O’Hare International (ORD) & New York JFK International Airport (JFK).

DAY 3
TOKYO CULTURAL TOUR

A whirlwind tour of some of Tokyo’s most famous sites! The skies are clear, the buildings are towering, and the music and sounds of the city work like an orchestra, calling out to you. The tour will take place on a bus, where Intermixi will provide a bilingual tour guide for explanations and questions, so you can relax and leave the work to Aka-san and company. Let’s go!

We’ll be visiting sites such as Asakusa (formally an infamous entertainment district, but is now one of the most lovely and relaxing tourist spots in all of the city), we will head to the ever-imposing and ever-impressive Imperial Palace. The thick castle walls will remind you of early Kurosawa films. The Meiji shinto shrine, another must-see temple located a bit closer to the hustle and bustle of the city.

We’ll take a lunch at Harajuku, a spot popular with both fashion-conscious teens as well as trend-hunters from around the world. There are numerous famous stores and restaurants in this area, so you won’t be at a loss when it comes to finding a way to stopping your hunger pangs, or a way to give your wallet a workout.

And a Tokyo Tour just wouldn’t be one without a trip to the Tokyo Tower! Based upon the design of the Eiffel tower (and just a bit taller), Tokyo Tower was originally built to relay transmission signals to the populace of Tokyo. Although it is now outmoded thanks to cable and satellite, that doesn’t mean it isn’t one of the coolest places to visit in the city, with a massive, indescribable view that encapsulates the whole of Tokyo from one small glass room.

DAY 4
GHIBLI, CRASHING THE M.U., AND AKIBA

We’ll be making a stop to the Ghibli Museum. The studio that brought you such films as Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and Howl’s Moving Castle has an amazing museum hidden in the back areas of Kichijoji. Ride the cat bus, see an exclusive Ghibli movie, eat at the straw hat café, and drink Ghibli beer?!

We’ll also be crashing a course at the Manga University! You’ve read them, collected them and even tried to emulate the form. Now, Intermixi and Manga University are giving participants the opportunity to hang out with professional manga artists and learn tricks of the trade.

Prepare for a day of play in the internationally-renowned electronics and pop culture playground of Akiba. Games, computers, TVs, toys, comics, books, wires, gadgets, cosplay, maids… it’s all here, waiting for you, and only the pros at Intermixi can run things down so clearly at a place this fascinating and mind-bending. The Ultimate Akiba tour will get you acclimatized and ready to go in no time. Happy hunting, intermixers!

DAY 5
TOKYO ANIME FAIR

The Tokyo Anime Fair is definitely not to be missed if you want to see presentations of some of the latest and upcoming animes that the industry has to offer. Held on the historic and striking Odaiba Island, the anime fair will offer a chance for you to see what’s new and what’s coming soon on the Japanese side of the fence.

Odaiba itself is nothing to be sneeze at, as it is a beautiful ocean playground filled with amusement parks, shopping malls, hotels, and stadiums. You can have quite a relaxing day walking around the beautiful islands, which seem a world away from the often-crowded streets of the city proper. Come get lost with us here for a day.

Take a rest a the JPOP Café over looking the Rainbow Bridge then it’s time to survey the nightlife only Intermixi can show you in Japan.

DAY 6
FREE DAY

Today is your day, people! Feel free to ask us for advice, notes, or ideas. Tokyo is all yours! Stock up on all those little (or big) trinkets you’ve been thinking about, take some pictures, see some sights, and enjoy the city. Perhaps even take a trip to Tokyo Disneyland or Disney Sea, a fabulous “sea-themed” Disney Park located just outside of Tokyo.

The entire day is at leisure for you to pursue your own interests. Should you need us, Intermixi will be there.

DAY 7
RETURN

It’s our last day here. Don’t worry; you’ll go home in style. Be sure and have your bags packed and your papers prepared. Take your last looks at this magical island as you depart with us, and perhaps start making some return plans!

On behalf of all of the Intermixi staff, we look forward to seeing you!

What’s that Neo? All this excitement of fast paced Tokyo left you aching for some serenity and peace?! Take the blue pill and visit Kansai with the Kame Hame Kansai Extension Package!

DAY 7+
KAAAME! HAAAAME! KANSAAAAAI!

Via a ride on the world’s coolest vehicle: the Shinkansen bullet train is the number one way to travel across Japan! Grab a bento lunch and enjoy the smoothest ride you will ever experience on a rolling rocket going at 300km/h (186mph).

In Osaka you will stay at the New Hearton hotel, right in the “heart” of Osaka’s redlight party district Osaka is lively, thrilling, and fun, and you’ll be prepared for it all. You’re rolling with Intermixi now, so relax and strap in. It’s going to be the ride of your life, and we mean that in the best possible way!

DAY 8
KYOTO’S CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

Kyoto is considered by many to be the traditional cultural center of old Japan and it is hard to disagree when you consider the sheer number of temples, shrines, museums, and national landmarks in the area! As gorgeous as it is historically exciting, Kyoto will take your breath away, and we’re happy to use our depth of knowledge about Japan to help you experience the serene former capital in the middle of cherry blossom season. Mountains, magic, and majesty await as you visit such landmarks as Kiyomisu temple, Nijo Castle, and the 1001 kannon statues at Sanjusangendo with us! This is all at the height of Japan’s springtime beauty, so what better time than now? Come with us and witness the history of Japan!

Please note that we will be on a bus with a bilingual guide for this portion of the tour. If you have any questions or need anything clarified, don’t hesitate to ask!

DAY 9
OSAKA

Today we will get a taste of everyday life of Osaka. Intermixi style, of course. First off, we’ll head on over to Osaka-jo, which is a renovated castle in the middle of an expansive and beautiful park. Modern and ancient cultures collide in this area, creating an intoxicating mix of people, food, music, art, and fun.

After we’re done, we’ll switch gears to go shopping at the American Shopping mall in Osaka’s entertainment district. But wait! Came to see Japan?! You will… Trust us. Here you can partake in Osaka’s western interpretation of amazing food, colorful sights, and find some of the coolest stores in town.

Before the evening comes, we’re going to experience Niponbashi, similar to Tokyo’s Akihabara; Niponbashi is the growing anime entertainment center with the Kansai feel you can find nowhere else. And right around the corner lies Namba in which the Kame Hame Kansai tour will toast into the night. With a variety of urban appeal and underground music clubs, what happens in Osaka will forever stay in Osaka.

DAY 9
DEPARTURE

Relive your favorite Japan experiences with your new friends as you make your way back to Narita International Airport by train. There is free time to enjoy souvenir shopping and a quick meal at the various restaurants located in the airport. After a wonderful Japan experience, the tour ends upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport

On behalf of all of the Intermixi staff, we look forward to seeing you!
