DAY 1 & 2
EXODUS

The Neo-Tokyo Tour will depart from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for your international flight to Tokyo. An Intermixi staff member will be available in the International Terminal for check-in. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and meet your fellow traveling companions.

During the flight, we cross the international dateline and arrive at Narita International Airport in Chiba prefecture. After completing immigration and custom procedures, passengers will receive a complimentary transfer from the airport to the hotel in Tokyo. During the transfer, enjoy orientation commentary about Japan, talk with fellow travelers, and catch glimpses of Tokyo Disneyland, Odaiba, and the dazzling lights of Tokyo before arriving at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel.

* Additional departure points will be allocated and offered at Chicago O’Hare International (ORD) & New York JFK International Airport (JFK).

DAY 3

TSUKIJI FISH MARKET TOUR

Your first morning in Tokyo and if your up for it, an early morning trip to the Tsukiji Fish Market! The Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market, commonly known as Tsukiji fish market is located near the Tsukijishijō Station. There are two distinct sections of the market as a whole. The “inner market” (jonai shijo) is the licensed wholesale market, where the auctions and most of the processing of the fish take place, and where licensed wholesale dealers (approximately 900 of them) operate small stalls. The “outer market” (jogai shijo) is a mixture of wholesale and retail shops that sell Japanese kitchen tools, restaurant supplies, groceries, and seafood, and many restaurants, especially sushi restaurants. The entire area closes earlier so it is a must to head out before the crack of dawn.

TOKYO CULTURAL TOUR

A whirlwind tour of some of Tokyo’s most famous sites! The skies are clear, the buildings are towering, and the music and sounds of the city work like an orchestra, calling out to you. The tour will take place on a bus, where Intermixi will provide a bilingual tour guide for explanations and questions, so you can relax and leave the work to Aka-san and company. Let’s go!

We’ll be visiting sites such as Asakusa (formally an infamous entertainment district, but is now one of the most lovely and relaxing tourist spots in all of the city), we will head to the ever-imposing and ever-impressive Imperial Palace. The thick castle walls will remind you of early Kurosawa films. The Meiji shinto shrine, another must-see temple located a bit closer to the hustle and bustle of the city.

We’ll take a lunch at Harajuku, a spot popular with both fashion-conscious teens as well as trend-hunters from around the world. There are numerous famous stores and restaurants in this area, so you won’t be at a loss when it comes to finding a way to stopping your hunger pangs, or a way to give your wallet a workout.

And a Tokyo Tour just wouldn’t be one without a trip to the Tokyo Tower! Based upon the design of the Eiffel tower (and just a bit taller), Tokyo Tower was originally built to relay transmission signals to the populace of Tokyo. Although it is now outmoded thanks to cable and satellite, that doesn’t mean it isn’t one of the coolest places to visit in the city, with a massive, indescribable view that encapsulates the whole of Tokyo from one small glass room.

DAY 4

GHIBLI MUSEUM AND THE ULTIMATE AKIBA TOUR

We’ll be making a stop to the Ghibli Museum. The studio that brought you such films as Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and Howl’s Moving Castle has an amazing museum hidden in the back areas of Kichijoji. Ride the cat bus, see an exclusive Ghibli movie, eat at the straw hat café, and drink Ghibli beer?!

Prepare for a day of play in the internationally-renowned electronics and pop culture playground of Akiba. Games, computers, TVs, toys, comics, books, wires, gadgets, cosplay, maids… it’s all here, waiting for you, and only the pros at Intermixi can run things down so clearly at a place this fascinating and mind-bending. The Ultimate Akiba tour will get you acclimatized and ready to go in no time. Happy hunting, intermixers!

DAY 5

ENTER: HOKKAIDO, SAPPORO

We will fly out from Shin Chitose Airport to Haneda Aiport and after checking in your hotel, will head to the Sapporo Snow Festival.

The Snow Festival began in 1950, when six local high school students built six snow statues in Odori Park. In 1955, the Japan Self-Defense Forces from the nearby Makomanai base joined in and built the first massive snow sculptures, for which the Snow Festival has now become famous.
The Sapporo Snow Festival, one of Japan’s largest winter events, attracts a growing number of visitors from Japan and abroad every year.
Every winter, about two million people come to Sapporo to see the hundreds of beautiful snow statues and ice sculptures which line Odori Park, the grounds at Community Dome Tsudome, and the main street in Susukino.

Today will spend most of our time at Odori Park and Tsudome. (There’s even a Mandarake here with some rare anime/manga goods!)

DAY 6

SAPPORO BREWERY, IGLOOS & SUSUKINO

After some morning fun in the winter wonderland, we are heading to the famous Sapporo Brewery. While imagining the old days of more than a century ago when the red brick walls of this restaurant were constructed, you can enjoy the freshest draft beer and Genghis Khan-style fresh barbecued lamb.

But what makes the food even more exciting? Having it inside an igloo!

After we get our “Eskimo on” well prepare for some night time action in the 3rd and final spot of the Sapporo Snow Festival, the Susukino site. Ice sculptures with real crabs, squids, and salmon are featured in this show. During the festival, a variety of events will be taking place at the Susukino site including the Ice Sculpture Contest and a special photo opportunity to see the Ice Queen.

DAY 7

RETURN TO TOKYO FREE DAY

Today we say goodbye to Hokkaido and return back to Tokyo. You’ll have most of the day to do some shopping or join Intermixi in an event yet announced.

DAY 8

Mount Fuji & Onsen Adventure

This is the only pop japan culture tour where you can get up close and personal with Mount Fuiji and just see how high up we can really get.

Afterwards we’ll be able to relaxing in a real onsen nearbye. Mt Fuiji’s glorious presence as the background, sip your sake in an onsen. It doesn’t get much better.

We’ll have a wonderful shabu shabu buffet for you after your bath. And believe us, nothing taste as great than after an onsen experience.

DAY 9

FREE DAY

Today is your day, people! Feel free to ask us for advice, notes, or ideas. Tokyo is all yours! Stock up on all those little (or big) trinkets you’ve been thinking about, take some pictures, see some sights, and enjoy the city. Perhaps even take a trip to Tokyo Disneyland or Disney Sea, a fabulous “sea-themed” Disney Park located just outside of Tokyo.

The entire day is at leisure for you to pursue your own interests. Should you need us, Intermixi will be there.

DAY 10

RETURN

It’s our last day here. Don’t worry; you’ll go home in style. Be sure and have your bags packed and your papers prepared. Take your last looks at this magical island as you depart with us, and perhaps start making some return plans!
