Nigri Please…

Posted by Jessica Nigri On August - 13 - 2009

Jessica Nigri is now part of Intermixi.com! In preparation for her own website debut, her new column “Nigri Please” is sure to peak everyone interest. From Pokemon Red cheat codes to cosplay tips, Nigri Please is just a place for Jessica to let loose…

So let’s begin!

The origin evolving into Pikachu:

“So heres the story… I have always wanted to go to a comic book convention, and for christmas I got a four day pass to SDCC 2009!! Needless to say, like any nerd, I was SUPER excited!

July rolls around, and after a long session of Pokemon Red on my ghetto Gameboy Color, I decided to embody and become my trusty pixelate friend, Pikachu!!

Little did I know, that becoming the 25th Pokemon of the now growing 400+ would be such a hit!! O:

Upon entering the doors of Comic Con, I was bombarded with photographers and fellow comic con attendee’s asking for picture after picture! I was completely surprised! And very happy to pose for every single person who asked. :D Everyone was so nice about the whole thing how could i refuse!!

Now coming on a month later, I am still in shock about how this all turned out, but I am VERY happy this all happened….”

The weeks after Comic con:

“Since Comic Con, I was bombarded with fan requests and messages asking to be my friend. Unfortunately I couldn’t accept them on my private page, but I thought that I still wanted to be friends with these people. So I made a quick fan-page off facebook and now within 2weeks I have 9,000 fans. Is that some kinda of Facebook record? LMAO

But honestly, it’s still shocking and overwhelming, but all the people I have talked to thus far are so awesome it’s all so worth it!

As I sat watching Princess Laya befriend an Ewok, on Star Wars, I couldn’t help but feel a warm fuzzy feeling towards that of the people trying to befriend me. They were all so wonderful, curious and most had nothing but good things to say! But I’m not saying you all are EWOKS!

Gaining internet fame hasn’t changed me one bit. I still spend 4-6hours on the computer, yet instead of watching Anime I am now taking the time to talk to my fans.

Its amazing how many great friends I have already made and hope to continually make!!  I truly feel bless. :D

So I hope  you all will like my Nigri Please column at Intermixi and if you have any questions for me or tips how to make it cool lemme know.

Oh yeah this weekend I’ll be launching my brand new website (Jessienigri.com) completely controlled by me BWAHAHAHA!

See ya’ll soon…

XOXO

The Rikku girl speaks! Jessica Nigri reveals her surprise love for all things Japan, Spawn, is she more comic geek than Otaku and the truth behind her and Davedays…

Last week we revealed the identity of the mysterious Rikku cosplayer that had captured the hearts of fanboys everywhere. In an exclusive interview held July 30th 2009, our red dreaded Akasan was called in on his B-day to work to sit down with the 19 year old from Phoenix, AZ. Funny… we don’t think he minded one bit.

Aka: So why don’t you tell us all how going into SDCC all came to be?

JN: Weeeell, I’ve liked Anime since I was about 5 or 6. It all started with DBZ and Pokemon!

JN: I have always wanted to go to a convention, but never have until my friend, Luke Malone (the guy in all the pictures ahaha) bought me tickets for Christmas! And thus! Comic con was in my sights and as the year slowed to a crawl, i was so excited haha

Aka: So this was for this year‘s SDCC?

JN: Yeah! My very first convention!

Aka: You’ve been devirgined!.. How was it?

JN: Hahaha, it was AMAZING. Preview night was sooo overwhelming, but the next day when I hit the con as Pikachu I warmed up to the idea. haha! I loved that the coolest person in the area could have been considered one of the nerdiest! Which I adored!!

Aka: So you mentioned your’e a fan of DbZ and Pokemon. Anime a presence obviously being a growing trend at SDCC are you fan of American comics at all? Did you go to SDCC with anything in mind to check out?

JN: Yes actually! I am in love with Spawn! You know that issue where he’s hung? I have that as a poster! And I will always pick up a few X-men comics on my trip to the local comic bookstore!

Aka: I actually have a homemade Spawn Costume (from Grade school) -_-

JN: PUT IT ON AND MEET ME IN THE ALLEY IN 5MIN!!

Aka: HAaaaaaaaaaaaaa… Nosebleed

JN: LULZ, but I wasn’t exactly sure what was going to be at SDCC but when I got there I absolutely had to see the Boondock Saints 2 panel which was amazing! Seeing Spok, Ludacris, and Olivia Munn was also amazing! I didn’t realize how big SDCC was until i stepped through those doors haha

Aka: Ok, so let’s talk about when life changed for you altogether… In short, you were featured on Kassem G’s Comic Con report. A little nerd bashing aside, he showcases you right in the middle of the report talking about DaveDays, Dave shows up and essentially “Geek C-blocks” Kassem. How did this all come to be?

JN: Well, I’ve seen Davedays online before and I thought he was awesome! I recognized him upstairs and tapped him on the shoulder and said hi! He looked at me like i had tapped the wrong person and i told him i was his fan etc. Then Kassem asked if i would like to be interviewed! Davedays geek C-blocked kassem and the rest is history! And no Davedays is not my bf. Haha

Aka: So the happy ending here is you’re single and “Yes, you can be a video blogger, stay in your home all day and still have hot fans…”

JN: Thats what Kassem said. He said “He’s still in shock he has goodlooking fans.” haha

Aka: 210,130 video views and 3 “Rikkued” thumbnails channels taking Youtube’s top viewed videos… What do you think about this all?

JN: Ooooooh my gosh. I was so stunned to be honest! I am just really happy people liked my costume! ^ ^

Aka: We have not seen this much Youtube attention since Chris Crocker… Fair to say most of us like this a lot more….

JN: Haha, I thought Chris was cute. Very original.

Aka:  So let’s talk about the costumes. You have a Rikku and Pikachu one.  How did that come to be? and which is better?

JN: I really like my Pikachu one because Pikachu has always been my favorite pokemon! Remember the episode when Ash let Pikachu go? I bawled!! And Rikku? I LOVE her. She is the perfect girl to me. I also am in love with the game, final fantasy rox my socks off!

Aka: Well, our Tokyo Game Show tour is coming up in September. Lots of ppl looking forward to FFXIII. But, do you reaaaaaaaaaallly follow it?

JN: Yes I do! Alot of people don’t believe I’m into gaming or anime, which is sad. I think its because people never expect a girl like me to like the things i like haha. Then they get into my room and BAM. JAPAN JUST JIZZED ON MY WALLS.

Aka: Right, so you’ve even been exiled to your room before?

JN: Yes… My room…. And my window to the internetz… bwahahaa!!

Aka: So your’e a big fan of Japanese stuff as well then? More so than comics?

JN: Yes. I am very big on Japan. I would hump the country and all its inhabbitants if i could.

Aka: Wow… score one for Goku then…

JN: Haha yea.

Aka Ok then lastly what made you get into Japanese stuff?

JN: I’m not sure! I have always loved the culture and everything about it! Something is just very appealing about its society… Haha boring answer

Aka: Haha. It’s ok… But your into Jpop, Anime everything huh?

JN: Yeah! Everything! I once spent a whole day just watching the Deathnote anime series and all 3 movies.

Aka: Ironic mention, because just a couple of weeks ago we finished up our 1st Annual “Yellow Fever Awards” Kenichi Matsuyama (L from Deathnote) beat out the kogal girl from kansai Koda Kumi… Who would you have voted for?

JN: L! I’m a girl who watches Deathnote, who do you think i would vote for hahaha

Aka: Ok fair enough to say if there humping to come, he’d be first on your list…

JN: I shall call it LUMPING!

Aka: Clever! Ok so last geek/otaku question…. Actually what do you see yourself as? More of a geek or an otaku?

JN: hmmmm…. I would have to say Otaku, although i love all the comics and movies that have been coming out…Especially Lord of the Rings… My mum was in The Two Towers as an extra haha.

Aka: Wow! Go Japan. So what’s next for the Rikku girl? You’ve got this huge following now that just wants MORE… Where do you take this?

JN: To be honest I am not sure! I have had multiple modeling offers that I will take up and hopefully it will take off from there. Cosplay modeling, don’t worry

Aka: I don’t think anyone would have be upset.

JN: Haha, I certainly hope not!

Aka: And the offers all happened at Comic Con? Quite a deal for a Xmas present!

JN: Yes! Haha, I have been thanking Luke so much since then! xD

Aka: I’m sure he’s either happy or hating himself for unleashing “the beast”

JN: Haha, he’s actually the one who told me take more photos! And to keep posting things for everyone!

Aka: High five to Luke then! Next up could be the cheerleader from Heroes and one of the Kabukicho manga characters right?

JN: Those are some good ideas! I can’t wait for Kabukicho to come out! I am actually looking for some new ideas for cosplay, so if anyone has any suggestions let me know!

Aka: Ok… Any last words for your new found fans?

JN: Just THANK YOU! You are all amazing, and I would love to get to know you all!  And thank you Aka so much for the interviewwww It was really fun!

Aka: I’m honored that Intermixi was able to hold your premiere interview. It’s a sweet B-day present.

JN: OMGOSH!! Haha Happy Birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy Birthday DEAR AKA Happy birthday to you!! (I like that, that’s your name! ^_^)

Aka: Stop it. You’re making me blush… Girl, I don’t blush…

JN: Haha.Well apparently you do if you are!

I choose you Rikku! You can follow all of Jessica Nigri’s adventure on her facebook fanpage or directly from her site: http://www.jessicanigri.com

That Rikku girl from San Diego Comic Con… Revealed!

Posted by Akasan On July - 29 - 2009

Last weekend America’s fandom in comics were treated to 4 days full of comic related events. Marvel swooned us with Iron Man 2 footage and DC filled our hearts with the Blackest Night.

However, amongst all the vivid cosplayer trafficking in the center halls, one particular girl left everyone online wondering:

Who was that Rikku girl?

Of course Rikku (a popular female character from Final Fantasy X2) cosplay isn’t anything new. Joining our Tokyo Game Show Tour, you’re bound to run into several Japanese girls honoring the character big time.

But, perhaps it’s just the atmosphere of America. If a cosplayer out here can “nail” (no pun intended) a certain Japanese character the audience goes mad. A “self nerd bashing” comedian’s 210,130 video views and 3 “Rikkued” thumbnails channels taking Youtube’s top viewed videos would certainly say so…

The Youtube Invasion:

Not since the premiere of Internet meme “Keyboard Cat” or “Rick Rolled” have we seen such searches invading all things Youtube and Twitter.

The days following the convention have flooded the internet with the questions “Who is the Rikku girl?!”, “The things I’d do…” or “Rikku FTW”…

Some people have gone as far as to post a Craigslist AD!

But thanks to the combined efforts of L, Batman and the QuestionIntermixi.com is proud to give you an answer.

Hello there Jessica… welcome to the Internet…

Her name is Jessica N., 19 years old from Phoenix AZ. When she wasn’t cosplaying as Rikku, she spent the other days at comic con posing as very sexy rendition of Pikachu.  A revamp that finally most fanboys can’t complain about not being canon.

Intermixi reporters have obtained a facebook and flickr, but due to the nature of privacy we are respectfully asking for permission first, before hordes of fanboys try to make their Fantasy Final…

But in the meantime, let us ask that age old question…
