We're Back!
|
|
The Spring 2008 Intermixi tours have returned! We got cultured in Kyoto, partied all night in Osaka and overthrew the Shogunate in Tokyo. We are still recovering from over a week of japanamanian, but keep checking our flickr tag and the forums for daily updates by the tour participants themselves!
The official memories will be up on the main site shortly as well as more info on Intermixi's presence at this year's Anime Expo!
Thank you all for the support!

MARCH 17, 2008
We've got a lot on our minds...
|
|
Intermixi is less than a week away from doing tour number two and three in a time span of 12 days of "Nihon no" insanity! As the days grow closer, Santa has nothing on us as the Intermixi staff continues to check over our last minute to do list.
This just came the other day, Mary Ann has invited us to an eventful live show on the 30th in Yokohama! It'll be the last live show for band before they start working on another album.
Looks like we'll be in Japan in October for the Tokyo Game Show tour. Better bring a costume.
Time to send out the prize packs to the "How Sweet It Is" contest winners.
And of course, you might have heard the talk about our joint contest with this years Anime Expo. We are very honored to be giving away 2 trips to Japan for those that pre register for the 2008 convention! But keep an eye out as there's even more to expect in the near future from Anime Expo and Intermixi shortly.
And finally check back in about a weeks time for live updates from Intermixi in Japan!

Prepare for a world of weird in the internationally-renowned electronics and pop culture playground of Akiba. Games, computers, TVs, toys, comics, books, wires, gadgets, cosplay, maids... it's all here, waiting for you.
The best part is our hotel in Tokyo will be allocated right off Akiba's main strip Chuodori. Arise in the morning to the ideal of anime fandom and the relief of not needing to lug giant collectibles all across the JR train stations in order to get back home.
Both entertaining and educational Intermixi is pleased to take you on the "Ultimate Akibahabara Experience" hosted by the folks at Akibanana. Participants will get a catered shopping experience of Japan's #1 anime and electronic district as well as exclusive "maid service"!

Intermixi spotlight: #3

"Kansai, the best part of Japan you never knew about..."
|
|
From the desktop of Aka-san,
If there's one thing I have always had a problem explaining without bias, it would be why every travel group needs to visit the Kansai area of Japan. While I don't want to take anything away from Tokyo (there's so much to do!), I have always felt a kinship with the laid-back "Los Angeles" vibe of Osaka. Coupled with the underlining serenity of nearby Kyoto, I feel that the Kansai area is my secondary home.
Escape the metropolis and embrace the "essence of old Edo Japan." You will feel a spiritual difference taking in a breathtaking view of the city from the Kiyomizu Temple, retracing samurai footsteps at Nijo Castle, and river rafting down the Hozugawa River in Kyoto.
When I used to live in Osaka, my deepest relationships emerged from places like the Rock Rock Bar, Club Pure (all you can drink), and Den Den Town (anime, bootlegs, and jav central). You can walk down the alleys of Namba and immediately start up a conversation with the not-so-shy Osakans.
With Samurai X being my favorite story of all time, it is a guilty pleasure to run through the falling cherry blossoms in Kyoto. I want to believe I am retracing the steps of the Battousai or Zatoichi.
It was an honor to share my Kansai experiences with the first Intermixi tour group in 2007. I look forward to more memorable moments in Spring 2008.
Already included in the Kame Hame Kansai and Fusion Tour.

A special addition to our Spring Intermixi tours will be a visit to a Samurai sword training school, where tour members can get a taste of the samurai experience by engaging in a training and tutoring session with Japanese sword-masters. This unique and rare experience is sure to have you swatting flies out of the air with renewed vigor and passion in no time. KI-YAHHHHHH!

Intermixi spotlight: #1

We're proud to kick off 2008 with a spotlight on some of the things you'll be experiencing on Intermixi's spring tours.
A crash course at "Manga University."
You've read them, collected them and even tried to emulate the form. Now, Intermixi and Manga University are giving participants the opportunity to hang out with professional manga artists and learn tricks of the trade.
Brainchild of Japananime president Glenn Kardy (the acclaimed How To Draw Manga, Kana De Manga), The workshop will feature Atsuhisa Okura (author of "Moe USA" and creator of the 10-page manga that appeared in the November issue of Wired magazine) and Saori Takarai (author of "Manga Moods" and "Manga Sisters").
Already included in the Neo Tokyo and Fusion Tour.
